Khosar Gang Expedition

YOUR DESIRED MOUNTAIN AWAITS

Introduction

Khosar Gang is located in the central Karakoram mountains just to the west of the famous Baltoro 8,000m peaks. The mountain is also referred to as Koser Gunge. There is no consensus about the correct spelling of the peak name. Early sources used ‘Koser Gunge’. More recently ‘Khosar Gang’ has gained favour. Some maps and reports use ‘Kosar Gang’ or ‘Khoser Gang’ It is one of the easiest trekking peaks in Karakorum. The base camp is located at a height of 4000m, and is accessible from Skardu which is 35km away.

The journey from Skardu to Base Camp can be completed quickly, making this one of the best peaks in the karakoram for a ‘short duration’ expedition. The first ascent of this peak was made in 1899 by the American couple Dr. William Hunter Workman and Fanny Bullock Workman. Some maps and reports give the height of this peak as 6,400m.
